RE: Sun shade front windows

We have an 08 Sightseer 35J. You have to be careful on the clearance for the pull down shades...the shades at CW are too thick to fit in the space between the night curtain rail and window. I called Lichenstin and they checked with Winnie and ones that will fit are in the mail as I write this...around $50 each. We had these on our Winnie 35U and they were great. If you want to pursue this, let me know and I'll get the details from the other computer.

RE: Basing in Mexico

Might do a search by author for "Harvestmoon". She and her family have explored a lot of regions and she has some experiences that might relate. Come to think of it, haven't seen her on here in awhile. Report back on your experience so we can learn from you. Good luck!

RE: alabama to north carolin fayetteville

We stayed at the KOA Wade-Fayetteville last week and really liked it. The Airborne-Special Operations Museum in downtown Fayetteville is very good if you're into that kind of thing.

RE: no-see-ums/sand fleas

El Fuerte, Sin always has an epidemic of tiny black jejenes. Bill at El Fuerte RV park gave us a bottle of Avon Skin So Soft for the clouds of little biters there. Worked like a charm! Kept them from landing. Dang...I wish Bill had done that with me. I stood there talking to him for a long time and never felt a thing. The next morning I looked like I had measles! And varmints usually don't bother me. But, I wish we were there now!

RE: brake controller plug in on Winnebago with ford platform

I'm probably totally wrong, based on Jerry's post but I did not think think there is such a thing. we have a '08 35J and I've never heard of it. We use the SMI Stay in Play as the TOAD brake system. You might post this on the Winnie forum at IRV2 (click here) The advantage of there is that it is Winnie specific. Look forward to seeing the results of your quest...I will learn something new. Now that you mention it, there was a wire harness in the black bag. Nope, the dash does not lift. The best you can do is pop off the hatch over the instrument panel or pull out the radio. Beyond that it is play like a snake under the steering wheel....sure miss the door we had on our 35U. Good luck and keep us posted. Steve

RE: Leaky waste valve. How to fix?

I had an '01 35U and lived in fear that the handle linkage would break because getting to it on the 35U would be a bear. You'll have to remove a lot of stuff. Go to a forum that specializes in Winnie here and ask or do a search on a topic that I started ("Belgique") that addressed this more than a year ago and you'll get some hints. Luckily, I traded before I had to do it. As the other chaps have said: good luck.

DVR (not TiVO or DirecTV)

I think the answer is no but I'll ask anyway. Is there such a thing as a DVR that one could use on a RV Park's cable system or on over the signals? We have a DirecTV DVR in the MH and at home we use TiVO and now we can't stand to watch live TV. When we're away from our local satellite footprint we like to watch cooking and travel programs on PBS but these are over the air and cannot record them. I know, I could get a VCR at a garage sale, but that is so low tech:B Is there such a DVR? Thanks, Steve

RE: Mayport Jacksonville RV Park

There are pix and notes on our web site (below). Ted H. Ted...that is a VERY impressive website you have with lots of great pix. This should be a sticky IMHO. Complements RVParkrevies nicely. Steve

RE: Outer Banks to Myrtle Beach (Ocean Lakes CG)

We live in the aforementioned "boonies";) (Cedar Island) and have done the ferry a lot with a '35MH with TOAD. The ferry is a nice ride. When you land on the Island, just take 12/70 South to Moorehead City and then 24 to Jacksonville and then 17 to Wilimington. It is probably quicker/even to drive and it is not a bad road...we've done it a number of times. You lose time with the ferry because you inevitably miss the connection since there are 2 ferries. Not a huge time but that's what makes it slower. If you're not pressed for time, I'd do the ferry.

RE: Strange water problem

UPDATE: Yep, the pump. Camping World at Lazydays was very accommodating. I bought the pump on line in June...they brought up my account, saw the purchase and exchanged the pump in minutes. Been installed about 15 hours and all is well. I didn't attempt to decide what failed since I was able to switch the pump. Thanks all for the counsel. Steve

Ok. Consensus is check valve. Luckily I'm at Lazydays so I can get one tomorrow. I'll report back. Thanks all.

Strange water problem

Winnie '08 35J with a fairly new Surflo Smart Senor pump. I asked this on the Winnie forum and got one suggestion that the "spool" might be bad in the valve and another that a defective pump can do this. Posting here to get some other opinions before I tear things apart or some ideas on how to diagnose the problem. The problem: Yesterday, after being hooked up to city water for about 18 hours I happened to look at the monitor and noted I had a full tank of water when I should have been almost empty. Went outside and it was overflowing. Turned city water off and it overflowed for a long time! BTW, I do have a Watts pressure reducer. The coach fill valve was not in the fill position...hasn't been touched for a month. I kept city water off to use the pump and draw down the tank. The dagone thing acts weird! Open a valve and no pressure even though the pump light is on. However, if you leave a valve open and flip the pump switch it will work! I have checked the connection to the switch and they seem ok. Questions: How in the devil can the tank all of a sudden fill itself? Again, the fill switch was not in the fill position. What would cause the water pump to act this way (it is a new pump but we've used it for a month or more with no problem). Can these two incidents be connected? I don't see how, but maybe I'm missing something. Thanks in advance! Steve

RE: RV TV SHOW!!!

Hmmm Outdoor Channel was a premium channel on DirecTC but I just checked and it was there (unless this is a free weekend for it).

RE: New to leveling jacks

No pads, most of the time. The Kwikee jacks are different from the HWH ones...less control, IMHO. I've found the auto function to be too aggressive in that it raises the coach more than necessary. I agree with the raise the front an inch or so and the the rear and then the sides. With Kwikee you can't control which end adjusts the side to side level...it does both in unison. Like most things, practice and you'll get used to it. We can level very quick now. On edit. re level indicators: we've found that the best one is the bathroom door! Seriously! If it will stay in one place, the coach is level.
